Zirh Shave Gel and Shave Cream Product Review

Today I’m reviewing Zirh’s Shave Gel and Shave Cream products.

SHAVE GEL

Zirh offers the Shave Gel as an option for men who have facial hair. The gel is clear, letting you see where sideburns and other facial hair are, so you can be more precise in shaving the correct areas of your face and neck.

The consistency of the gel is as expected — a thin gel that spreads easily over your face (much like the hair gel you used for that awesome “wave” hair you were rocking in the late 80s). Note that the gel is non-foaming, unlike many shaving gels you find at the supermarket.

The scent is neutral — again, think hair gel.

For the actual shave, I found the product lacking. The razor didn’t glide as easily compared to the shave cream, and I was left with more razor burn and irritation than other products.

Zirh says one 8.4oz jar should last 3-4 months.

Overall, I wouldn’t recommend the shave gel. I’m sure there are better products out there.

SHAVE CREAM

I like Zirh’s Shave Cream more than the Shave Gel. The shave cream isn’t transparent like the gel, but I found that I could still see facial hair well enough after applying the cream.

The consistency is very thick compared to what you might expect from other creams. Application is easy enough — wet the face and hands with hot water, get a dollop on your finger from the jar, and spread on the shaving surface. The key is having enough hot water to loosen up the cream.

The scent reminds me exactly of Noxzema. It’s a light and refreshing scent to wake you up in the morning, but not overly powerful.

The shave itself was nice, but not out of this world. Lubrication was good and the razor glided easily enough over the shaving surface. I was left with very little irritation as well.

Overall the product does its job fine. However, as with the Zirh Body Bar, I’m not convinced the $20 price tag is worth it.
