Zirh Clean Product Review
September 15, 2006 by Glenn

Zirh is a company focused on the research and development of men’s skin care and shaving products. And lest you think skin care is treading deep into “unmanly” territory, athletes like Kobe Bryant, Sammy Sosa, and Tiki Barber all use Zirh products. Not to mention our boys on Entourage.
Today I’m reviewing Zirh’s Clean Face Wash. From the product information, Clean will…
Wash away dirt and oil to prevent the growth of acne-causing bacteria. Then, triple alpha-hydroxy acids gently lift away dead skin cells to uncover the smoother, healthier skin beneath.
I’ve been using it twice daily for a few months now, in the morning shower and at night before going to sleep.
THE BAD
The canister doesn’t have a pump to easily get the soap out. Zirh says this is because the product is too viscous to be pumped, and they won’t sacrifice the formula by diluting it. Zirh does have an alternate packaging of Clean in squeezable tubes.
THE GOOD
My face stays clear of acne outbreaks, and I’m left with a fresh and cool feeling on my skin after using it. Also, the sturdy bullet-style aluminum canister looks great and screams “this is a man’s product.”
THE VERDICT
A great facial wash that I plan to continue using for years to come. My estimate is that a $16.00 canister will last 4-5 months before running out. Clean is available online at Zirh’s website.
STILL SKEPTICAL?
I must admit that I was a bit skeptical of the skin care industry. My main issue is, how do you know whether the stuff actually works? In my research on alpha-hydroxy acids, it reportedly takes months of daily use to see improved skin. And most skin care products are focused on “preventative maintenance,” meaning it takes months or years to reap the benefits.
I only have one real-life example of a man who has clearly benefited from the long term effects of daily skin care. That man is Zan.

If you look at a picture of him, he appears to be in his early 30’s (some informal polling of women gave an average age of 34). In fact, he’s 43 years old. He attributes his great skin to an aesthetician girlfriend of nine years who would use scrubs, facials, and other products on him.
If my skin is looking like Zan’s when I’m in my 40’s, then I’m sold. Does anyone else out there have a positive experience regarding a daily skin care regimen? Comment and let us know.

Great review. I’ve been using Clean myself for the better part of two years. Like you said, it’s impossible to know for sure whether it’s working, but I too would rather make an effort than surrender to the hands of time.
Au contraire, on the “too viscous to be pumped” deal! I’ve been using the ZIRH stuff for about three years now. Last year, one of our local department stores had as a ZIRH promo a deal where you got full size bottles of the shamppo and conditioner with a purchase. The shampoo/conditioner canisters are exactly the same size as the Clean container, and they come with pumps on top. I swapped ‘em out, and haven’t looked back! The Clean pumps out just fine and lasts even longer, too! Just a thought…
[...] Application is easy — apply to face and neck twice daily (ideally after using Clean). My skin is very strange in that sometimes it’s dry and sometimes it’s oily. So I restrict use to once a day and don’t put it on acne-prone “problem” areas. And you don’t need much — a little goes a long way. [...]
i love this stuff. i’m not sure who told you AHAs and BHAs and any type or good skincare takes years to reap the benefits…but they are wrong. Good skincare can show immediate results and have long term benefits. I think Clean and the Zirh scrub are examples of this, as are products from many other lines. You just have to use the right stuff and do some research into the pH level, the amount of acid or spf or peptide in the product to determine if the product is real…or just full or marketing hype.
