Vegan Shoes in Denver

July 22, 2008 by Greg

I’ve written several times before of my trials in the vegan shoe market.  It should come to no surprise that I was more than excited to have vegan shoe store Ahimsa Footwear open less than 5 blocks from my apartment.  I finally made it down to the new Capitol Hill store this past weekend, and I am thoroughly impressed.

While you won’t find the usual big brands that occasionally offer vegan options (read: puma, onitsuka tiger, adidas), there is no shortage of both men’s and women’s casual and formal footwear options.  Brands like Earth, Simple, and the ever elusive British born vegan mothership, Vegetarian Shoes line the shelves of the spacious vegan haven.  I picked up a pair of Trail Legend shoes and couldn’t be happier.

If you’re in Colorado, or looking for a good online store, show some love to Ahimsa Footwear.

As animal-unsympathetic as my position may be, I’ll hop on this bandwagon and proudly proclaim that my trail running shoe vendor of choice (Montrail) makes vegan friendly shoes. I really don’t care one way or the other, but these shoes are amazingly tough, supportive, and I think a bit stylish as well, but then again, I’m not out in the trails for a fashion show. The durability of the shoes is probably a direct reflection of the dedication to using all synthetic materials. I heart Montrail shoes!
