Vau De Vire society is a group of aerial acrobats, fire performers, go-go dancers and side show acts from San Francisco. Judging by thier website (specifically the videos), I’d call them a naughtier, more macabre Cirque Du Soleil. From performances at 2005’s Vegoose festival (where they entertained 90,000 fans) to working alongside the Flaming Lips and the Cure, the world is taking notice of Vau De Vire.
Some press quotes:
The San Francisco Chronicle called Vau de Vire’s performance “…eye-popping…giving a precise visual correlative of the horrors of mechanical birdsong”.
Where the hell did these fiery, funky, fabulous people come from? In the two years since the group was brought to life by director-choreographers Michael and Shannon Gaines, the Vau de Vire Society has exploded onto the San Francisco scene and beyond, leaving audiences as awed as they are titillated.

And finally;
the most amazing artistic landscape that I have ever witnessed first hand. I can say no more, see them if you can… it changed the way that I will see art from here on out” - Glide Magazine
An upcoming set at the Download festival (alongside The Cure, She Wants Revenge, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, and AFI to name just a few) should prove amazing.
