Uses For Saved Text Messages
May 17, 2007 by Greg

Cash is a sentimental guy. He saves all sorts of text messages that remind him of the good times for when he is old, gray, and in a sad state. While this is more of a recent fascination for me, I’ve been subscribing to saving text messages for a few alternative reasons.
#1 Bartenders’ Names
As a general rule, I don’t remember names. It has nothing to do with my personal arrogance, it’s just an effect of meeting a lot of people. However, if you’re going to be pouring me free drinks, or sprinkle some social proof on me, I’m going to work to remember it. When I meet a doorman or a bartender whom I want to remember, I send a text message to myself and move it to my saved folder.
#2 Apartment Numbers
I pay visit to a fair number of high rise apartment complexes. Actually, aside from my suburban friends who seem more like distant relatives these days, I don’t really know many people who actually live in houses. With those I visit for the first time, or for which I have less than frequent encounters with, I send a text to myself with their apartment number and move it to my saved folder.
What text messages do you save?

incriminating ones, or ones that make you say “wtf? how drunk was this person when they sent it to me? and what can that possibly mean?”
remind me not to send drunk texts to goat
Oh come on, Greg, we all love your drunken text messages
you’re a rainbow too
I love me some drunk text messaging
For the reals though, I’m a sappy girl and love saving the text messages that make my heart melt a little
I used to save these one text messages from this guy I dated that would tell me he missed me. Yes, I know RETARDED AND SAPPY
I’ve used text messages for many things, but drunk text, flirty texts, and my all time favorite, drunken flirty texts are some of the best. It’s definitely easier getting through a long Friday afternoon with a cute girl you’re planning on meeting for drinks spending the day sending suggestive reminders all day.
Scott…
True that. Times a thousand. On the hot side.
