Top 100 Endangered Animals

I have a strong, albeit strange, fascination with animals.  I am especially fond of the ones that are really funny looking and/or have funny names.  EDGE, a non profit conservation organization, has released a list containing many of these animals. Actually it’s a list of the top 100 evolutionarily distinct and globally endangered mammals. 

Recent studies indicate that almost 75 per cent of the world’s most extraordinary threatened mammals are receiving little or no conservation attention.

If these species go extinct, they will be lost forever. There are no similar animals on earth to replace them. The top 100 Evolutionarily Distinct and Globally Endangered (EDGE) mammals are highlighted below.

I guess ‘evolutionarily distinct’ is a better description than ‘really funny looking ones.’ Whatever.  Check out the list here.
