Things You Should Know - Teflon Pans

July 17, 2008 by Greg

I could write a heaping cup full of things you should know about the kitchen, but non-stick pans seem to be the thing I see people screwing up the most.  So here are a few tips for the teflon-challenged.

  1. Don’t put teflon pans in the dishwasher.  The harsh chemicals in automatic dishwashing detergents damage the non-stick surfaces.
  2. Don’t use metal utensils when cooking.  The metal will scratch and scrape the non stick surface off.
  3. Don’t use anything over medium heat.  Too much heat will affect the surface causing permanent damage.
