the strangers movie trailer / preview = hella freaky
May 13, 2008 by Cash
I’m no newbie to horror flicks and tend to take them with a grain of salt; giving me pure, faux-terrified enjoyment in the theatre.
I’ll warn everyone then that the new trailer for “The Strangers” is one of the most unsettling things I’ve ever watched.
The synopsis:
The horrifying events that took place in the Hoyt family’s vacation home at 1801 Clark Road on February 11, 2005, are still not entirely known. Champagne. Rose petals. Candlelight. It was supposed to be a night of celebration for Kristen McKay (Liv Tyler) and James Hoyt (Scott Speedman). But after leaving a friend’s wedding reception and returning to the house, everything had collapsed for the happy couple. Then came a 4 a.m. knock on the door and a haunting voice. Is Tamara here?
Doing a bit of research into the “inspired by actual events” element only makes it worse.
Contrary to what’s implied in the PR for the movie, the story seems to be based upon three seperate events; each more horrifying than the last:
The family-murder case of Jeffrey R. MacDonald
The still-unsolved Keddie resort murders that took place in California in 1981
The film also capitalizes on the disturbing real-life trend of ‘home invasion’ crimes that often end in all sorts of gruesome tragedy.
This one’s bound to cause some sleepless nights.
Anyone planning to check it out?

Saw the preview for the first time last night. Helyna and I almost peed our pants. But yeah, I will still see it. Ha.
The preview has been running here for over a week now. Yes, I will see this one.
I’m scared.
