the “heteropolitan” man

There is a new term being used to describe a certain demographic of man. “Heteropolitan” typically refers to a man who:

works late once a week, is partial to a pint of lager, but is reading Catcher in the Rye and enjoys preparing a meal with the help of a Jamie Oliver cook book.

Good gawd. 

They are described as an “antidote to the metrosexual”.

They wanted to have traditional things too, like a monogamous relationship, children and a stable family life.

These people are working long hours and want to do well in their careers, but they want the family life too.

Could anything be more cliched and boring? 

Apparently Brad Pitt is being categorized as Heteropolitan, which will no doubt spawn a whole women’s movement eschewing its validity.  Personally, I’d rather be Tyler Durden (or even David Beckham, admittedly more my style) than Angelina’s bitch, but that’s just me.
