The heat here in Denver has been stifling lately. What to do for relief on a hot summer day?
Margaritas. Uno mas por favor.
But I gotta tell you, I’m not a fan of drinks that take any sort of effort to prepare. I keep it simple — a gin and tonic, a manhattan on the rocks, a screwdriver. They take all of 30 seconds to make and get straight to the job at hand.
Ah, but what if there were a dead simple margarita recipe? I thank my mom for introducing me to this, and everyone who’s tried it raves about the simplicity and taste.
Here’s what you need:
- 12 oz Frozen Limeade Concentrate (available at any grocery store)
- 12 oz Sprite or carbonated lemon-lime drink of your choice
- 12 oz Corona
- 12 oz Tequila
So, a frozen limeade, a can of sprite, a bottle of corona, and tequila (use the empty limeade can to measure out your tequila). Mix it up, break out the margarita salt, and enjoy before the summer’s gone!
A word of caution: don’t put it in a blender and think you can use the low “Stir” setting to mix it. You’ll lose half the margaritas as it spews out the top and all over your kitchen. Yes, I’m kitchen-challenged — even with blenders.

OMG, that last line had me rolling. One suggestion? Try using the blender lid.
I can vouch for the margs, they are tasty!
I just got back from Baja, MX…and I had some margs that were to die for. The magic ingredient…Banana! All they did was mix together your average marg ingredients, and then throw in a couple of bananas before blending. Amazing!
OMG that sounds incredible. I will be going into the ‘lab’ this weekend to experiment with said addition. Thanks for the tip Cory!
