the best men’s shoes
October 8, 2007 by Cash
Saturday night, as I was waiting for the bus, the strangest thing happened. A woman walking by with her boyfriend stopped to compliment me on my shoes. I was wearing a simple pair of black Kenneth Cole’s, not my prized Donald Pliner’s. It may have been the recent shine that caught her eye, but the point here is simple: Women notice shoes. If you want to make a good impression, you need to make sure you’re stepping out in style.
Forbes has a great article on the best men’s shoes, including a slide show of 10 makes ranging from $360 - $1000. As the writer smartly points out, an expensive, well made pair of shoes (when properly cared for) can last long enough to prove a good investment.
Men should look at shoes the way women do: as a great way to take what’s in their closet and spice it up.”

Well, you’ve touched upon a subject near and dear to my heart - my feet. The only two American makers worth noting are Alden and Allen Edmonds. After that you’re in the English world of Edward Green, Crockett & Jones, Lobbs, Westons, and a handful of others. The article gets it mostly right, and I disagree with the Tanino Crisci. There are
English, Italian, Hungarian, French makers, and then there are the bespoke makers, which kicks it up to $3,000 and up for custom kicks. It’s a much different world than what one gets at Macy’s, Saks, or Nordstrom’s…
That’s true on all levels. My friend from the burbs told me once, “black girls around here won’t even look at you if you kicks aren’t fresh.”
