Spare Cellphone Batteries

In my quest to keep a charged cellphone, I am overly excited about spare batteries. While the USB charger wins in the portable charger category, the spare battery wins in convenience. I am so over joyed I’ve turned into an evangelist.

Over a round of tequila shots, I exclaimed to my friends about the the wave of the future that is the extra cellphone battery. Quickly one retorted, “Why don’t you just plug it in every night?”

I could have given my standard replies that I don’t always come home or that when I do I’m too intoxicated to remember, but then a wave of realization came over me. It makes no sense to keep my phone plugged in. The inconvenience of a 10 second battery swap far outweighs the routine of plugging your phone in for hours at a time.

My battery charger is more like an extension for my existing cell charger. I simply plug it in to this plastic device, plop in a battery, and the light shines red to indicate it’s charging. Two hours later it’s ready to go, but I could care less because I’ve got 120 minutes of talk time back in my cell phone. The battery charger adapter was $6 and the extra battery a mere $11 shipped from Hong Kong. I’m considering buying a couple more batteries just to throw them in my bags.
