Sex: The Sex Box

Few things can ruin the moment more than getting up out of bed and rifling through messy piles, franticly looking  for a condom.  Let alone trying to locate something slightly more risque like lubricant, massage oils, or even fuzzy hand cuffs.  It is important to have all of these props in one place, accessible and ready to go.  The sex box is a container used to hold everything that is naughty.

Things to include in a sex box:

  • Condoms
  • Lubricants
  • Massage Oils
  • Blindfolds
  • Restraints
  • Finger Paints
  • Dildos
  • Vibrators
  • Beads
  • Rings
  • Games
  • Edibles

The size of the box is going to be representative of what is stored inside.  If it will hold only a few massage oils, lubes, and maybe a bullet vibrator, then a small box should be used.  However if you have a 8 piece restraint set, 4 vibrators, 2 dildos, and variety of liquids, then perhaps you need a few medium sized boxes arranged by theme.

If a large collection of sex toys needs to be stored, it may be a good idea to organize the sex toys by intimacy levels.  A new partner may be scared off after opening a box with a black 18″ veined double header and a studded leather rubber ball gag.  A simple box with a few lubricants, oils, blindfold and condoms might be the right way to go till at least you’ve established a more intimate bond.

Any toy that has been used needs to be cleaned before going back into the box.  Things like eye masks and contained liquids can go right back in.  However, anything inserted needs to be properly washed and dried before putting back.

Containers to use for a sex box:

  • Nightstand Drawer
  • Decorative Box
  • Plastic Container with Lid
  • Small Chest
  • Dresser Drawer
  • Underbed Storage Container

The box itself needs to fit your style.  If your mattress sits on floor and your shelving is made with stacked milk crates, a nice shoe box is fine.  If however you have a nicely decorated room, the ratty shoe box you used to keep your garbage pale kids cards in will probably have her suddenly remembering an 8am meeting she has to wake up early for.

To pick up a decorative box or small chest try home accent stores like pier one, world market, pottery barn, or crate & barrel.  You may want to line the box with a material to block any spills.  For a more organizational project, try container store for plastic bins and drawer dividers.

Lastly pay mind to discretion.  If family or friends are regularly getting the grand tour, make sure the box is out of site.  Awkward glances after your sex box is accidently opened by a guest curious about the pretty box is an uncomfortable experience for everyone.  That box of yours might just want to live tucked away underneath your bed.

A nicely varnished cigar box under the bed works well too. Make sure it’s a double corona sized one though ;).
