Resizing Images Quickly

Between blog posts, facebook photos, and craigslist postings, I resize a lot of pictures. Typically I’m popping open gimp, adjusting the scale and saving. Last week, with 8 images on my desktop needing resizing, I decided to take the time I would’ve spent opening them individually to find an easier solution.
Surprisingly, Microsoft had the answer. With a simple and free tool, Microsoft offers users of XP an add on right mouse click option to quickly select folders and multiple images to batch resize. They even have a full article documenting how to use it called Resize Digital Pictures Quickly.

long been a fan of: http://www.imagemagick.org/script/index.php
specifically i use that with perl based mass editing.
Nice! After a quick glance I’m already interested.
I’ve always used MS Paint for quick sizing, “Image –> Stretch / Skew” works pretty well. Still, both these options sound good..
If you have MS Office 2003 or later, the Office picture manager will also resize batches of pictures quickly. Still, this method with right-clicking seems like it could be faster. Good info!
I used to use MS Paint for a quick size before upload, but still opening, menu clicking, size to 50%, save, overwrite…
As Ben points out, right click one file or a group, save, much easier!
Facebook resizes for you automatically.
True that, but when you have a stack of large pictures and a crap connection, it’s all about reducing your file size.
I second ImageMagick - it is tremendously powerful. No comment on difficulties in installing it and using it under Windows, though.
