quick tip: the beggar blowoff

Living downtown I spend plenty of time saying no to panhandlers of every stripe. Though the stories vary the end result is always the same: give me money. I don’t think so. After dozens (hundreds?) of rebuffs, I’ve come up with what I think is the perfect beggar blowoff:
Random hobo: “Excuse me sir…”
Cash (cutting him off): “Do you need directions or money, because I can give you directions”
Stops them in their tracks, and if they DO need directions, hey, I’m happy to help.
I like “Hey, what’s up?”
Ahh yes, and for all your productivity enhancing pursuits it’s one way you get to waste time on a daily basis!
I like that Cash…
Also try to have fun with it and make them earn a buck. Maybe they can entertain you by attempting the moonwalk or the Harlem shuffle.
