quick tip: cut your grooming costs in half

How to? Start showering every OTHER day. I kid, I kid. As a long time “product” dork obsessed with the likes of Zirh, Art of Shaving, et al, I’ve spent more money than I care to admit on pricey oils, lotions and creams. After several Art of Shaving items rounded out my birthday gift collection however, I had a ‘duh!’ epiphany that’s been saving me money ever since.
Normally, I’ll finish any skin/hair care product completely before buying a new bottle. Due to holiday budget considerations (and general lifelong laziness on my part), I recently restocked the Cash bathroom with a variety of low cost goods from Rite Aid; Nivea, Gillette and the like. After my birthday bounty was received, I began alternating between the Art of Shaving stuff and the drugstore items. Doing this daily will make the pricier goods last twice as long, hopefully without losing too much of their benefit.
Viva la frugal livin, Urban Monarch style.

I am more about efficient spending than I am about reducing quality.
I like refillable products (like dr bonner’s body soaps from whole foods.) It costs about $3 to refill the soap when you bring in the container, instead of $5 for the normal bottle.
Buying larger sizes also helps keep costs down. The normal 5 ounce container of the aveda cleanser I use is $19, the 16.2 ounce is $42, or about 35% cheaper.
Other options include buying products online without taxes, taking advantages of internet discounters, free shipping, and promotions. (Example: kiehls direct, fragrancenet.com)
Use quality products that improve efficiency and reduce need. Shaving brushes, loofahs, aveda clothes.
If bulk sizes are offered, you are right on. Unfortunately Zirh only makes one size of each product. I believe Art of Shaving is the same way.
