Questions: Why isn’t there an LED Light in My Fridge?
September 23, 2008 by Greg
I think I left my fridge slightly open last night. I woke up this morning to discover the mozzerella cheese I left on the top shelf a little translucent and a little gelatanous. After investing the rest of the items in the fridge, they all seemed relatively cooler than their top shelf counterparts. Playing with the door I began to realize how warm that light bulb gets. Why isn’t this an LED light? Less heat, less energy, practically infinite life…

I need an adapter that will let me screw in an LED light into a standard light bulb socket.
Gentlemen… behold! http://www.thinkgeek.com/gadgets/lights/9ceb/
Though, I’m fairly certain these aren’t designed for this sort of thing.
This, however, is: http://www.thinkgeek.com/gadgets/lights/831e/
CF is much cheaper……

CF is better for most household lighting than LED.
BUT they do make fridges with built-in LED lights instead of the bulb, that is if you have over 2000$ for a fridge, but they are really cool fridges….

I’d say the reason its not an led light is because the light is only on when its open which I’m sure is 1% of the total time, rendering the led vs. incandescent problem unimportant. Sorry just stating the obvious…
