props to microsoft

With all the love we’ve been dishing out lately for Apple/Steve Jobs/Mac I need to take a moment to give a big ups to the fine folks at.. GASP - Microsoft!  No, really.

I’m in the final stages of completing my first 4HWW muse (it’s an eBook).  Up until two days ago, I’d been writing and editing using an old skool freeware application you may remember: “Easy Office”.

This was a free software suite that came out several years ago and offered ’similar’ functionality to MS Office without any of that pesky ‘dollars out of my pocket’ nonsense.

Well, as work on my book drew to a close, a lot of hiccups and frustration during the editing/formatting phase made me consider buying MS Word outright.

Only I didn’t have to.

Why?

Microsoft offers a fully functional, 60 day trial version of Word (along with Excel and a few other apps).. for FREE.

Although the new Office 2007 GUI is worlds away from what I’m used to with Office 2003 (If you haven’t seen it, it definitely feels Mac inspired), I was still able to get to work almost immediately.

Finishing my book will be a snap.

Thanks Bill Gates.

Try it out yourself here

Yeah I’m with Greg on this one. BOOOOOOOO. Kinda like a crack dealer giving away the first hit or two for free… Goat, at first I laughed at your comment as nerd humor that I get as a *nix user, but the more I think about it, ARE YOU SERIOUS?!?!
