poll: “metrosexual?”

We at Urban Monarch are a decidedly open minded bunch.
We take pride in having friends from a wide swath of different lifestyles, backgrounds, etc.
Being, as we are, cultured, style-savvy lads with an eye for the aesthetically pleasing, we’ve often been branded “metrosexual“.
Now it’s your time to chime in on this polarizing term:
Do you consider the term “metrosexual”

David Beckham is considered the reigning ‘king of the metrosexuals’.
I’d say there are a lot of fates worse than having his lifestyle and a wife like Posh.
I think “metrosexual” is a stupid buzz term that someone made up to classify and categorize that which needs no classification or categorization. What the hell does it even mean?
Metro= short for Metropolitan or Metropolis
Metropolitan= a person who lives in and knows a METROPOLIS or one who has the characteristic attitudes and manners of such a person.
Metropolis= any large city or center of population, culture, etc.
Sexual= of, characteristic of, or involving sex, the sexes, the organs of sex and their functions, or the instincts, drives, behaviors, etc. associated with sex.
I could point to someone and deem them a “metrosexual”, but I’m still pretty vague on what it really is, so therefore, I deem “metrosexual” a bullshit term and refuse to use it henceforth;) Unless, of course, I can come up with a definition or someone else can explain “metrosexual” to me in real terms…

Click on the link above for Wiki’s definition though, which seems to concur with my understanding of the term.

I read the Wiki definition- doesn’t help me much. Seems to me a word should have a definition, not just an origin.
Is it saying that “metrosexual” was just a term that they made up in attempt to somehow assimilate lifestyles of homosexual males into…I dunno, the mainstream- like, “Hey, we’ll just make up a word for this so people feel more comfortable with this concept of how a man can be.”? Hmmm…

On second thought, I guess I can go along with the Wiki definition. It’s just the etymology and denotation of the word that bothers me. I won’t be calling anyone metrosexual.
Shenna - Believe me, I won’t be calling anyone metro either, I just don’t take offense when I’m branded as such.
