poll: do you love your job?
27Aug07

There’s a reason Greg, myself, and thousands of other people are pursuing The 4 Hour Work Week: most jobs suck. Maybe you’re one of the lucky few who’s managed to to find work you truly enjoy. Comment away.

If you vote Yes you have to say what you do…
yes:
1. programmer for a bank.
2. i like staying busy, so i know i don’t mind being at work as much as some people do.
3. it really is a big deal who your co-workers are. i thankfully like who i work with.
Website design & development for my own web projects and also working for a startup.
Ahhh Cory.. yes indeed, your life could certainly be worse.
Glad you’re not too busy surfing Hawaii to keep up with UM!
Are you kidding i sent that reply in between sets!
I’m a security analyst for a well-known security vendor, providing 24/7 network analysis for multiple fortune 500 companies and numerous others all across the globe (last week I called Dubai, Istanbul, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Johannesburg, to name a few).
Pay’s great, benefits are awesome, and I get an allocated $60 for security books every quarter (I like books!), and I was just sent to an awesome security (SANS) conference a couple weeks ago.
The only downside is it’s shift work, rotating every couple of weeks. Weekends are being slimmed down considerably. That, and I have the dress-code of having to wear a “collared shirt and pants” if I’m on during a weekday from 9-5ish which only encompasses one shift. I’m on overnights, so I’ve worn shorts, t-shirt and reefs to work for the past two weeks.
However, I *too* read the 4-hour workweek. I’m afraid I can’t apply some of the stuff due to various operating standards (remote from home, for example), but I brainstormed some awesome ideas for products/etc which I’d like to see turned into automated income! My job’s great, but “working” from a beach would be even better
I said “No” only because I don’t love it, I like it. It’s a living, I enjoy my co-workers and the work is fun at times. But if I could blog, write or goof off for the same living, I’d quit tomorrow. (Oh, I’m in PR.)
My job, am a full time mum,..well…mmm….is there anyone overseas who can take care of two hyperactive kids while i take a much needed break??
