One Thing I wish I Had: Packing Aids
February 21, 2008 by Greg

Packing aids are usually used to help organize the innards of a suitcase. They give the otherwise open space inside a compartmentalized structure with boxes for shirts, socks, shoes, and whatever else you may want to bring along. Cash even uses a flat shirt packing aid to help keep a stack of dress shirts firmly pressed for the trip.
These have been on my wishlist for a long time, but now after moving into an apartment with no dresser and no closet, I see a new use. Not only would these little guys have helped organized my packing, but I could have pulled them out of the suitcase and been using them as temporary dresser drawers.

aah yeah; I am a huge fan of Eagle Creek’s “Pack it” folders.
I have those too Cash. They work out great.
Erm..what kind of apartment has no closets? Just curious, as I don’t think I’ve ever seen an apartment without. You might want to try some of those temporary drawers, you can find them in plastic or cardboard at places like Target and Walmart. The plastic ones can be quite attractive and then repurpoused once you have your permanent ones.
For air travel if you are bringing dress clothes, leave the shirts and slacks in the plastic dry cleaning bags. It will prevent them from catching on each other and usually will only require ‘touch-up’ ironing instead of a full iron. This works best in a garment bag. Also if your suitcase has straps or bars to hold things in place, use them, they help.
