One Thing I Love: Etsy

When I first moved into my new apartment, I had planned on decorating my walls with art I found in the local galleries around town. After a few schedule conflicts prevented me from attending any of the immediate first friday art walks, my walls started begging me to cover them. I entertained the idea of buying a few posters to use in the interim when I remembered artisan direct merchant site Etsy.

Etsy describes themselves as machine for local artisans to support themselves globally.

Etsy is an online marketplace for buying & selling all things handmade. Our mission is to enable people to make a living making things, and to reconnect makers with buyers. Our vision is to build a new economy and present a better choice: Buy, Sell, and Live Handmade.

Browsing through the latest artworks is now an addictive pastime for me. I’ve purchased a set of three screen printed canvases for my living and a large acrylic painting for my bedroom. Each time a new piece comes in the mail, I get more excited and want to purchase something else. With many great options at great price, there is little reason for any grown man to have a home with no artwork.

Check out Etsy, but don’t buy the all cool paintings before I find them.
