one person i respect: trent reznor

Walking into work this morning thru the blustery Colorado air, my iPod shuffle landed on Nine Inch Nail’s “Leaving Hope”, from the album “Still” (the limited edition companion disc to “And all that could have been”. 

Reflecting on how the same man responsible for the balls to the wall aggro-insanity of pieces like “Last”, “Starfuckers Inc.” and “Mr Self Destruct” composed this haunting, chill-inducing piece of classical piano melancholia I realized how much I admire Trent Reznor. 
Over the course of twenty years he’s showed an artistic range, commitment to his fans and creative vision that few others will ever hope to achieve.  All this while maintaining his credibility even in the darkest of gothy circles.  He’s also the only artist I still risk life and limb in a mosh pit attempting to get closer to.
