About ten years ago, I was dating a girl who was into two things in equal measure; good music and erotica. The combination was seductive to me, and one of my favorite treats at the time was the constant stream of mix tapes (yep, this was before CD-Rs were prevelent) she would make me. Filled to the brim with awesome remixes, b-sides, and just new music altogether (she gets credit for introducing me to Lamb, amongst others), she would dig these treasures up from the used bins of Twist and Shout and Wax Trax Records. Almost every tape included a ‘cover’ that featured the work of pin-up artist Olivia DeBerardinis. An American illustrator/painter whose work has been showcased world wide in Playboy as well as countless other publications, she may be best known for her coutless drawings of Bettie Page.
Oliva’s attention to detail when depicting the female form is unsurpassed, and her works’ raw sensuality needs to be seen to be believed.
