Note to everyone: As reported on Digg yesterday, eBay is not your best bet for selling a laptop, ipod, or anything else. Thank the Nigerians for that.
In doing a little poking around I came across a wrap up of a hilarious prank some savvy netizens pulled over on a Nigerian trying to ply the idiotic escrow / eBay / your PayPal payment will arrive AFTER we receive your goods scam.

[...] Last week Cash wrote about a prank a few enterprising ebayers pulled on an attempted scammer. This week, the subject of an equally entertaining hijinx is up for sale. The reverse happened to this bidder when a broken laptop arrived in the mail. After it became obvious that the seller wouldn’t be helping out, he took matters into his own hands. Sawyer allegedly received, two months after paying, a laptop of lower specifications than those advertised. Furthermore, the appliance was allegedly not operable even with the new charger it required. Sawyer was eventually able to recover data stored on the hard disk of the laptop, upon which it is claimed that he discovered numerous items of personal and financial information relating to Amir and his family, as well as potentially embarrassing pornographic images, and what appear to be camera phone images of the legs of women on the London Underground. He was also able to gain access to Amir’s email, and mass-mail contacts in his address book with instructions on how to access a blog featuring some of the photographs and text allegedly recovered from the hard disk.
