next big thing in skin care: wine based face creams
August 3, 2007 by Cash
According to the LA Times, Wine’s not just for swishing and swirling anymore. One of the active elements of the grape; resveratrol; is being harvested with the hopes of being one of the most powerful antioxidents on the planet.
Vercauteren explained that antioxidants from grape seeds are 10,000 times more effective than vitamin E in fighting free radicals. Caudalie developed a grape-seed polyphenol serum for the face and later patented a stabilized form of resveratrol for its antiaging products. The company then developed other products from the winemaking process, including those made from wine sap (to lighten dark spots on the skin) and wine yeast (which softens and hydrates the skin). The Caudalie line has grown to more than 45 products.
Prices for the new products vary widely; from $350 for .5 ounces of Dior’s L’Or de Vie serum, to the far more reasonable Grape Beauty Milk from L’Occitane retailing for $22.

wine for my mouth!
Resveratrol is on it’s way - This could really could be a huge paradigm shift in health…
Guys, wine will not give you enough resveratrol, so dont be fooled.
Here is why…
1 (5 ounce) glass of wine holds 1-2mg of Resveratrol. (Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Resveratrol)
This human study here shows that humans easily flush out 25mg of resveratrol out of your system (http://www.revgenetics.com/pdf/Bioavailability.pdf) compared to mice.
Knowing the 2 facts above, you would have to consume 12-25 glasses of wine a day to get 25mg, and even then your body will flush it out.
What you really need is a supplement. Current studies from David Sinclair show him giving humans 2500mg and 5000mg of resveratrol daily. (Source slide 23: http://www.revgenetics.com/sirtris.htm) This is something you will never be able to do with wine.
You guys really need to question who is promoting the message that wine will help you after knowing the facts.
A
Anthony; if you read the article rather than just spamming our blog you would have seen that we were not advocating DRINKING wine to get the beneficial effects, but rather using a GRAPE based cream/serum on your face to aid in skin care.
We’re alright with the occasional plug for your product/blog via our comments, but at least read the story you’re commenting on before doing so.
