Last year, in a joint cooperative effort with my good friend Glenn, we threw a birthday party honoring our extensive time spent at the local vodka bar, Red Square.  Filtering and infusing 10 vodkas in clear glass bottles, left on ice for guests to shoot and shake with an array of mixers, it was the perfect amount for an intimate but well supplied party.  This year though, returning from an extensive stay in New Orleans, I didn’t have the energy or the means for any extravagant preparations.

Taking inspiration from the parties my graduate student neighbor takes me to, I’m having a potluck.  However, instead of just telling guests to bring a dish to pass, I’m telling them to bring a dish to pass that starts with G (in honor of my name of course.)  The invite was a simple email sent out to a handful of my closest friends with the time, place, and ideas for food and beverage that start with G.

Birthdays are meant to be shared, and hopefully this will be both a successful and low maintenance ordeal that brings my friends together.
