I'm chiming in to second the excellent quality of Microsoft mice. Since 1999 I've been using only the Microsoft Intellimouse Optical, and I'm currently on my second one. It's lightweight and symmetric, and has a very comfortable shape. I recommend it to anyone when they are looking for a new mouse and it never disappoints.

While windows never ceases to irritate (I state that as one who earns his living coddling windows machines along) I have to say, Microsoft slaps their name on some damn fine mice. I've owned many over the years, most of which are still in use.

My most recent mouse purchase, just 2 weeks prior to the theft of the whole backpack o' toys, was a brand new Microsoft Laser Mouse 5000 for my MacBookPro.

Blue tooth radio equipt, great size for remaining portable while still being comfortable in my huge hands...

I'm going to buy another one, lets sum it up that way. ~$27 on amazon. Can't be beat.

I have had no luck with any mouse yet. No matter which brand I get, they break anywhere between 6 months and a year. Is it possible we are just too rough on them, or use them too much? I absolutely cannot use the trackball on my laptop. (Or on ANY laptop for that matter) I'm using a wireless optical mouse by MS right now, one with the battery saver, but I can feel disaster approaching. It's about 6 months old now. I paid nearly $60 for it. The thing I like most about it is that it fits my very small hands perfectly, but I think I'll stick to the cheapies from here on out, for me they last just as long. On my desktop I'm using a laser mouse, but not wireless. It's lasted nearly 8 months so far, and I only paid about $25 for it. I would be willing to pay top dollar for one if I knew I could get at least the life of the computers with it. Do any of them come with a good warranty? Are the Bluetooth ones really better?

My first question would be; what exactly are you DOING to these mice anyway?

Nevermind, I'll ask Raven about that.

I've had my logitech wireless for, gawd, like 4 years? At least? With no problems whatsoever.

I've used nothing bu the Kensington Expert Mouse optical Trackball (man, could they throw any more words into that name?).

i especially love the "scoll wheel" which is a ring around the trackball itself. used the old roller version back in the day, upgraded to this a couple years ago and no probelsm with it since.

I swear by the Logitech MX Revolution. I use it w/ my PC at the office and use it's little brother the VX Revolution Nano w/ my MacBook Pro at home. Wireless/bluetooth is the way to go.
