music: ectoguide to good music
February 7, 2007 by Cash
There are thousands of music review sites floating around the WWW, a handful of which actually feature information I find helpful, or more importantly- interesting to read.
One of my favorites flies well beneath the mainstream radar.
Ectoguide features editorial comment broken down by artist, and includes reviews of live performances, album by album commentary, band history, etc.
The writers have an insightful voice that belies their obvious passion for the music included.
To this end, it should be noted that Ectoguide is a ‘guide to good music’ which means you won’t find any of the hate-filled diatribes that pepper (and too often distract from, in my opinion) sites like Pitchfork, et al.
One example of Ecoguides value can be found in their review of the always elegant Cranes.

I like that you can break the bands down by country of origin. I often like to listen to artists from a similar region and sometimes it’s difficult to track them down.
