Young hipster girls. One of life’s many blessings.

Perhaps nowhere is this more apparent than at your local indie coffee shop; where the tattooed femme fatales pour forth musical wisdom as often as sarcasm and java.

One recent revelation at my own favorite ‘European cafe’ (which I think is code for ’serves booze AND coffee’ a fact I learned in Atlanta) was Dntel.

Almost everyone’s heard of The Postal Service. In fact, if you’ve watched TV in the last 6 months you’ve likely listened to some of their songs which have been featured in commercials at a rate rivaling Moby’s contribution to the advertising world.

The Postal Service is made up of Ben Gibbard, (the uber genius behind Death Cab for Cutie) and Jimmy Tamborollo.

What you may not realize is that Jimmy’s own electronic explorations before the break through success of The Postal Service were quite inriguing in their own right.

Dntel’s “Life is full of possibilities” is a perfect example. Poetic, emotive electronics, awash in ambient details paint moody pictures that demand repeated viewings on an iPod near you.

Recommended.

If you’re into Postal/Dntel, you should check out: TV on the Radio, Kings of Convenience, Her Space Holiday. They’re not quite the same sound, nor are the lyrics quite the same, but they’re similar.

I also recently came across Russian Spy Camera via Pandora (check out Teasers with Tasers: http://www.myspace.com/russianspycamera) and a friend of mine also turned me onto IMMOOR (check out Unit 371: http://www.myspace.com/immoor)

Holy SHIT Jess.. just been checking out Her Space Holiday (The Young Machines album). Some of the best stuff I’ve heard in awhile. Thanks for the suggestion. This is like.. wow.

    “my problem with me
    is my problem with you
    it doesn’t take much
    for me to come unglued
    i put my headphones on
    and hear your favorite songs
and it kills me to know
this won’t be one of them”
