moving tips: cash mart

I’m typing this post from the depths of an intimidating tower of precariously balanced cardboard boxes. That’s right, it’s moving time. Thankfully, I’ve been pretty organized and things though stressful, are rolling along. Having watched Greg endure the trials of his own move last year has helped. One great idea he came up with; “Greg Mart”.

Greg Mart was a large box of assorted crap that sat inside his condo’s front door for several weeks after the move. Any time I was over, he invited me to peruse the goods and take anything that suited me. This is how I scored my 60gb PORN hard drive, amongst other odds and ends.

I’m hijacking the idea and have formed Cash Mart. The criteria for inclusion?

1) I’d feel weird throwing it out, although I have no use for it.
2) It wouldn’t sell on Craigslist/eBay, or would be too much of a pain in the ass to take care of there.
3) It’s something I think someone else in my circle of friends could get good use out of.

Although that 3rd point may be stretching it a bit on some of these items, here’s a random sampling from my current inventory:

  • Strange lamp with leaf embossed shade
  • Assorted computer crap, including brand new keyboard, mouse, cabling, 3 sets of speakers etc.
  • Plastic poker chip trays
  • Porn DVDs (samples obtained at last year’s Sex and So Much More Show)
  • DSL Phone filters (for landline phone jacks)
  • Silver woven gift basket
  • Bubba Gump pilsner glass (new in box)

Hopefully everything will find a new home after the move.

Can I claim a pair of speakers? My computer at work doesn’t have any and I am in dire need of some!!! And I love how you have a Bubba Gump glass “still in box”.

Of course you can.. just stop by and pick out what you want :-) yeah, I don’t even want to get into how I got that glass…

Have you thought about listing things on Freecycle? Erm..maybe not the porn movies, but anything else you want to get rid of. Usually the things you list are snapped up within 15 minutes or so after posting them. The people who claim them have to pick them up, you can even set them on the porch so you don’t have to be bothered. Just a thought.

Thanks Caroline; I’ll consider Freecycle for any left overs after my friends have their say.

Haha. Give the porn away on freecycle!
