mathmos tea lights

With Greg on a mission to furnish his new home, I came across a cool choice in accent lighting.  Considering the fact he’s already pimping a binary clock; more futuristic geek chic stuff seems appropriate.

Mathmos‘ tea lights are the epitome of style and simplicity.  Attach to a 9 volt battery, scatter throughout your living space, and voila; warm red, white and blue hues in the tradition of those American flag popsicles you used to buy from the ice cream man.

At $100 for 5 they arn’t cheap, but hey, your living room’s worth it.

I’m fairly certain that with a tiny bit of electrical skills and some sort of housing to put them in, I bet you could make these for a few cents each. In fact, you could probably even make them WITHOUT a soldering iron!

I’ll get my electrical engineering friend on it when he gets back from vacation :P

You could start by making some Throwies and then seek out a housing. Using throwies as a starting point, you don’t have a 9 volt battery to hide.
