Making Girls Laugh

Psychology Today analyzes the role of humor in the sexes. It states typically women seek out men who make them laugh, where as men seek out women to laugh at their jokes. It continues emphasizing humor as an indication of sexual interest.
The allure of male humor is so strong that female laughter may have evolved as a signal of sexual interest - picture a woman’s girlish giggles as she flirts with a man at a bar. Indeed, a German study found that when male and female strangers engaged in natural conversation, the degree to which a woman laughed while talking to a man was indicative of her interest in dating him. How much the woman laughed also predicted the man’s desire to date her. On the flip side, how often a man laughed was unrelated to his interest in a woman.

I’ve been thinking about this topic a lot lately, primarily due to a situation at my work. I’d say this is incredibly true. Great post Greg.
I think the topic of humor is really interesting because of the power it holds. And not just with the opposite sex. When someone makes you genuinely laugh, how can you not like them?
It’s interesting that how often men laugh is unrelated to his interest in women. From my own experience I question whether it’s true. Guys aren’t attracted to fun and playful women? Maybe we aren’t laughing out loud, but we’re certainly smiling on the inside.
Thats an interesting point glenn. I think I’m attracted to fun and playful women, but thinking of the women I’ve dated, I don’t know if I would really consider them ‘funny’. Hmmm…
I would definitely draw a distinction between fun and funny from my own experience as well.
Honestly, ‘fun’ is more important to me than ‘funny’ from a dating perspective.
