In 2005, Kansas decided to offer their budding youth access to not only evolutionary theory, but creationism as well. In order to secure a balanced education for the next generation, concerned citizen Bobby Henderson offered the Kansas School Board a similar curriculum amendment, The Flying Spaghetti Monster.

I am writing you with much concern after having read of your hearing to decide whether the alternative theory of Intelligent Design should be taught along with the theory of Evolution. I think we can all agree that it is important for students to hear multiple viewpoints so they can choose for themselves the theory that makes the most sense to them. I am concerned, however, that students will only hear one theory of Intelligent Design.

The Flying Spaghetti Monster, or FSM for short, created the universe, trees, and a ‘midgit’. He is followed by a sect called, pastafarians. Heaven rewards devout followers with beer volcanoes and a stripper factory. The religion, originally spread by pirates, is now accessible via venganza.org.
