How to Make Christmas Shopping Easier
December 5, 2007 by Greg

I have three rules to make Christmas shopping easier. The first reduces the load, the second reduces the effort, and the third optimizes the purchasing procedure.
Rule Number 1 - Don’t Buy People Christmas Presents
I’m probably not going to buy you a Christmas present unless you happen to be in my immediate family or sharing my bed. In one step I’ve just limited my Christmas distribution list to my 3 family members and optional girlfriend.
Rule Number 2 - Buy Everyone the Same Thing
Almost always I can think of something I need as well as the rest of my family needs. One year they all got books. Another year they all got new suitcases. Usually it starts with something I need, then I ask myself if my family members could benefit from this as well. Girlfriends are optionally excluded from this rule. They usually get something soft or shiny.
Rule Number 3 - Buy it Online
I prefer to shop online anyway. It allows me to research products and comparison shop without all the retail psychology, waiting lines, and commute time. Bonus: I ship the packages directly to the recipients. No need for carrying or wrapping.
I will understand if you adopt these rules, fall in love with them, and then make an exception by buying me a christmas present as a thank you gift.
Happy Holidays.

I’m a fan of all three.
