how to get your bus schedule via text message

Some websites are such an incredibly good idea, I find myself amazed it’s taken them this long to arrive.

It’s no secret that UM is committed to public transportation, and TxtBus.net is going to make our lives a whole lot easier.

With four different ‘levels’ of functionality (that involve providing increasing amts of specific informationĀ in your initial query), Txtbus allows you to see the next three scheduled busses for your desired route.

Truly brilliant.

Currently available for RTD’s system here in Denver/boulder, but coming soon to:

San Francsisco
Portland
Dallas
Chicago
Miami

(Hopefully, coming soon everywhere else too)

If I’m not mistaken it was actually a project for a college course.. the team won a prize and their idea was developed into Txtbus. Woot!

We just launched Txtbus in San Francisco - watch for us on the buses this week!

    How it works:

    Text: SFMTA myRoute
    To: 44636

    Example:

    Text: SFMTA 21
    To: 44636

For the list of major stops on route 21. Reply with the number of the stop closest to you for the next 3 times.

Still free and better than ever - over 40 routes with real time GPS!
