south america on the globe

Sometimes I wonder if planes really take me anywhere.  I’ve driven from Michigan to Colorado, so I’m pretty sure that these two places exist and are significantly far apart from each other.  Aside from this, everything else is up for grabs.  When I get on a plane and end up somewhere exotic, I tend to question the means.

I don’t really know where Argentina is.  I’ve seen it on a map, but other than this supposed cartographic interpretation, I don’t really have a grasp of where is.  It makes me wonder if they just put me on a plane, shook me around for a few hours, and announced that I was in South America.

I wonder if the airline model is something like this:

Jiggle Jiggle Jiggle… Chicago!
Rumble Rumble Rumble… Hawaii!
Shake Shake Shake… Las Vegas!  (Seriously, right?  Can this place actually exist!?)

What I don’t like about air travel is that I feel like I’m still in the airport. It’s as if Las Vegas is just a big room down at DIA and in order to get there I have to sit in a long tube shaped waiting room for 90 minutes before I can go in. When I drive or ride somewhere it feels like I’m really departing one place and getting to another place by way of all the space in between.

Just to be on the safe side, I suggest you start driving everywhere.

Even South America. It’ll take a bit longer, but you’ll have the piece of mind you crave.

Delusions indeed. I’ll have what you’re having. Make it a double!
