give your girl a gadget

Guys arn’t the only ones lusting after techie toys these days.

According to an article in the Times of India, ladies are getting into the action as well.

One of my favorite comments from the article comes from Actress Deepika Padukone;

Although I wouldn’t want to be wooed by either - since I can afford both diamonds and hi-end tech gadgets on my own - I think it’s wonderful that women have developed a taste for tech toys,” she says.

There appears to be some psychological motivation for the shift as well:

Psychiatrist PS Murthy says, “All over the world, women are taking to entertainment gadgets such as plasma TVs because they are a source for gathering more information. And women feel more powerful when they acquire more knowledge.”

How about you UM readers?  Any ladies out there want to comment on this?  Guys?

    I love technology! I absolutely love getting gadgets. I’m still excited to use my wireless router that I got for my birthday last year. My coworker just got the iPhone and absolutely loves it. I’m not really an apple fan, but she was telling me all that the phone does and I kinda wanted one :-)

    I know I personally love the techy gadgets because I feel connected to the world and love how technology has impacted our lives. For example tonight, not everyone can go to the dance performance, but I can go put it on youtube and bam, my friends in Japan can watch it :-) Yes, I’m a nerd.

    I love gadgets of all sorts. Anything that makes my life more entertaining or less worrisome (I got the AT&T 8525 recently) is good. Shiny Shiny (http://www.shinyshiny.tv/) is probably my favorite “gadgets for girls” blog… they had a feature on usb-heating gloves that I use to keep my fingers warm in winter.

    Raquel, I thought of you when writing this!

    Telan; right on. I actually confessed to a Shiny Shiny fascination here in fact. Shhh.. don’t tell.
