went to an amazing japanese place in NYC during their resteraunt week, found a "tasting menu" option on their normal menu that was only slightly more than the resturaunt week deal but let you try small appetizer size dishes of like half the menu as opposed to special the full meal package. so we got to try way more of a selection of the menu. was a great way to checkout a vast portion of their menu. this place was crazy. they would make fresh tofu every 2 hours or so...

I went to Tamayo last night for restaurant week and I had the ceviche as my first course. Main course of the chicken breast with a root vegetable puree. It came on a bed of mashed potatoes and a side of rice and black beans. For desert I had the banana filled empanadas that were coated in cinnamon and sugar, topped with cinnamon ice cream and a plantain chip. Oh man was my whole meal delicious. I did glance at the regular menu to see that my chicken breast was normally $23. Thankfully because of restaurant week, I was able to enjoy one of the best meals I've ever had. So yummy....

Oh man.. what a hassle! I was kind of expecting a uppity backlash when I stipulated "Oh no, not the regular menu, us po' folk need the Denver Restaurant Week menu". Alas, they were as gracious as could be. I'm sure it varies from restaurant to restauarnt.

I have to say though, I was VERY impressed with Open Table and will likely do a post on it here very soon. Especially for high traffic times like restaurant week, mother's day, valentine's, etc, I think it's a solid system to say the least.

Thanks for the comment Jess, as always!

Very nice. I recently went to the DC restaurant week myself... went to some highly rated Mediterranean place that was in a super-fancy hotel. I don't recall the exact price of the meal had it not been restaurant week, it was around the $80 mark for two.

The food was pretty delicious, but I think way overpriced for what we got. Additionally, they brought out the wrong salad at first, and they initially refused to comp the ($20!) valet as they normally would, but apparently the free valet wasn't valid during restaurant week, so says their website which "I didn't check" as I booked through OpenTable.

Dinner (still on their "special events" page, haha!)
Clam Chowder
Spinach Salad With Roasted Tomato & Candied Walnuts & Maple Balsamic Dressing

Petite Filet with Roasted Purple Potato & Pomegranate Reduction
Broiled Arctic Char with Wild Mushroom Risotto & Lemon Caper Relish

Ginger Crème Brulee
Chocolate Mousse Cake

Tasty, but I'm going to have to book somewhere else next time. Maybe fondue...
