I’ve heard plenty of horror stories about apartments from hell.

From vindictive landlords to bug problems, to intolerable neighbors and beyond, there is a lot of potential danger when you’re getting ready to sign on the dotted line.

After all, the leasing agent’s sole job is to sell you on the place. Honesty is not always on their agenda.

It’s quite refreshing then to find the internet, as usual, coming to the rescue.

Apartment Ratings is a site that solicits user reviews of apartment complexes nationwide. It’s more or less uncensored so you’ll get indepth, graphic details on your new perspective home.

Beyond that though, just a little digging can also net you some comic gold in the form of places you thank God you’re not living in.

One tip; If the leasing agent describes a pool-side appartment as serene and relaxing do keep in mind that most places keep the hot tub open all year round. Sure, the pool offers nice “views” in the summer but imagine loud kids being in the pool area at ALL times of the day ALL year. This can and does happen, even in “upscale” properties.
