Empty Porches

In the morning on the bus I pass by one of Denver’s most beautiful parks, Washington Park (or Wash Park if you’re from here.) Surrounding the 156 acres of land, 54 separate flower beds, and 2 lakes, are a series of some of the city’s finest homes ranging from the early 19th century to modern builds.  Most of which have well kept exteriors complete with manicured lawns and spacious porches.

As you would imagine, most of these houses lining around the periphery are at a premium.  I notice every day not a soul stirs, sips, or smells their coffee there.  I see no breakfast plates, cloth napkins, or matching silverware sets lining the tables.  I wonder, are all the inhabitants suffering through their workday already?  Are we all just struggling to have somewhere nice to wake up and laze about on Saturday or maybe only Sunday mornings?

Sounds serene, yet sad. I heard somewhere that the environment you travel thru during your commute directly impacts your overall outlook for the day. I wonder what your drive through the ghost town of porches past is doing to your mood??

I’d like to think they’re all just sleeping late :)
