drinking: make your own club soda

April 10, 2007 by Cash

Ever since discovering that regular tonic water includes High Fructose Corn Syrup as an ingredient, I’ve found myself using more club soda as a mixer.  For flavored vodkas it can’t be beat.

I’m pretty excited then to learn about a new product that lets you make your own club soda at home using a coffee sized system that should fit in amongst your other kitchen appliances.

Introducing the Soda-Club:

The machine has no electric parts and is simple to use. A large carbonating (carbon dioxide) cartridge is inserted into the back of the machine. One-liter bottles of water are screwed onto the front. Press a button and with a whoosh! the water gets bubbly.

The Soda-Club makes phenomenal seltzer water, in part because you control how much carbonation goes into the water. The seltzer water from the Soda-Club also tasted fresher than its bottled equivalent from the grocer.

For the frugel amongst us, it’s promise of 17 cent liters is quite the savings over $1.39-$1.50 I typically find at the store.

Are seltzer water and club soda the same?

For all intents and purposes, mixing drinks wise, yes!
