denver’s darwin award: 2007
28Dec07
Death is no laughing matter, but as the Darwin awards have proven; people love ironic / idiotic swan songs.
Justin Parker, a 24-year-old college student who walked away after his car slid 300 feet down a steep embankment near Red Cliff, died shortly thereafter when he walked off another cliff about thirty yards away. Eagle County authorities determined that Parker had survived the initial crash, but couldn’t figure out how he subsequently walked off the cliff.

i knew i avoided the mountains for good reason
Possibly he had a severe brain injury from the initial accident, or was blinded?
I suppose he could have been dazed and confused from the wreck…or other things. And gawd lawd, he’s my age! Hopefully you get smarter with age? (I’ve been told to go for older guys, maybe this is the reason why)
Caroline/Jillian.. could be I suppose, although at least as far as the blindnesss/brain injury, they should have been able to detect that in the autopsy, and they didn’t. I seriously wonder if it wasn’t a case of just the worst luck ever.
I don’t see that as a Darwin Award winner. I would venture to guess the guy was disoriented when he walked off the second cliff. That being said… If the car had rolled off the cliff, (ie parking brake left off, not in park) Then he walked off a cliff trying to get back to town, that would be an award winner!
