Dear People at the Grocery Store
November 3, 2008 by Greg
I need a bus pass to get to work. I had plenty of time to get one and get to work should 10 of you not decided that you needed to return your carpet clearner, get quarters for laundry, cash in your lottery winnings, and tender your coinstar receipt. People cashing welfare checks, I have nothing to say to you.

At my age, I’ve learned some bitter lessons. One has to do with buying my bus pass. I always do it AFTER work the day before I need it…(occasionally sooner) We have to remember the other people have as much right to be there as us, and to expect service on a first-come basis. Unfortunately, the world doesn’t revolve around us, as much as we think it should. If it did, I would be queen of the world…LOL! As much as I love you…and you know I do…I can’t muster up a lot of sympathy here. Just do what I do, and you find it’s much less hassle. I also sometimes buy my pass at the main station, as I transfer buses there. If, as sometimes happens, I miss my connecting bus by 20 seconds…Now THAT’S a crime…I just go ahead and kill time by purchasing it there. I DO think bus companies should let us buy our passes online. That would be such a help. Sun Tran…our local company…does sell year-long passes, but yeah, who wants to put out that much money at one shot. OK…enough ‘lectures’ for one day. Forgive me???
People on welfare can’t afford gas. Get a car.
A lot of us NOT on welfare can’t really afford gas either. I’ve GOT a car, but I save lots of money I’d rather spend on other things by using the bus…I save on gas money, insurance and repairs, parking, etc. Plus, it’s better for the environment. I don’t want to sell my car,as I DO use it for shopping, or going out in the evenings, and to go places where and when the buses don’t run. But, I probably average driving 30 miles each week, as compared to 200+. I even take the bus to the airport, as that saves a LOT on gas and parking. The bus stops right in front of the main terminal, so a lot less walking with bags as well. Really, you can’t beat public transport. I only wish they had more buses, routes and later hours. In Atlanta the buses ran all night. Most big cities have nighttime public transportation, but not Tucson. (Or Seattle)
Hah!
Yeah, you are totally right on this one. Sometimes the blog is an avenue for my ranting.
