chipotle ecstatic hour
August 27, 2007 by Cash
Chipotle is a Colorado company we’re quite fond of. Their natural ingredients, huge servings, and quick service have been winning UM’s staff over for years. Glenn’s fanboy like devotion to all things Chipotle borders on the obsessive (he’s the only person I know who’s written a complaint letter to Chipotle HQ for a sub-par experience there). Leave it to him then to turn me on to one more thing I heart about Chipotle: Ecstatic Hour.
Friday nights at select Chipotle stores (you may have to ask if yours does it) they feature 2 for 1 beers & margaritas, AND free chips and salsa to boot. It all happens during “Ecstatic Hour” which at the downtown Denver location (16th and Blake) runs from 6-8PM.
A perfect way to ease into the weekend.

I’m sorry tired of hearing about how good Chipotle is. In Texas we go to Freebirds (freebirds.com) and Chipolte can’t even compare with the quality, taste and size of a Freebird burrito. If you like Chipolte and you make it down to Texas you must check out Freebirds! Yes, I’m a fanboy.

Erik, by God.. I accept your challenge.
I put them at the bottom of the major Denver burrito offerings, personally. Illegal Pete’s, then Qdoba, then Chipotle. Illegal Pete’s chicken is super tasty, they actually mix the ingredients in the burrito once you’re done selecting what should go in it, and occasionally have some hot tattooed burritoistas working.
By comparison I think Chipotle burritos are pretty bland, dry, and it sucks when you bite into them and end-up with a mouthful of rice and nothing else. I do really like their guac, though.
Cash, Game On! I have the advantage of living in Texas, so I have many times put the two burritos against each other and the Freebird wins every time. The one silver bullet that Chipotle has is its badass pork.
Let me know when you come to Texas, I’ll buy your ‘bird.
Erik
Every time I have met a Chipotle vs. competitor challenge, the results have been the same. Illegal Pete’s, Qdoba, Big City Burrito, all are inferior. I have never been to Freebird, though, Erik, and I look forward to the results of the competition.
FYI- McDonald’s own Chipotle and Jack in the Box owns Qdoba.
Thomson, totally agreed. I’ve tried Pete’s, Qdoba, and Big City, and I always go back to Chipotle.
Matthew: McDonald’s no longer has any investment in Chipotle.
I prefer Qdoba. I might go there in an hour.
