beware no-name free liquor

Free booze is one of my favorite things on earth. Be it courtesy of comped bottle service in Las Vegas, the hospitality of a friend or my personal favorite; a girl buying me a drink- I’m down with the ‘hosted’ beverages. Last night however, (actually this morning), I learned a valuable lesson that proves G.I. Joe right once and for all - “knowing is half the battle”.
Last night, thanks to a good friend’s hookup, our party was given free limo service for the Underworld show / afterparty. Upon arriving in the limo I quickly determined I would be the only one drinking that evening, and proceeded to scan the liquor stocks. There were 2 bottles of champagne (one of my least favorite spirits) and a glass decanter of ‘vodka’. I of course, opted for the vodka. Having a very short ride ahead of us, I only had one screwdriver prior to the concert.
After the show, we piled back in and I poured another screwdriver for the ride to the party. Just before going in, I slammed perhaps a shot’s worth of the stuff. It stung, but in my experience, *most* vodka tends to do that straight.
This morning, I felt like my head had been used in a rugby match. The pounding was so intense I could barely keep my eyes open, and the sensation quickly spread through my body and stomach. I was.. gawd it pains me to say it; hung over. For the first time in maybe 3 years. And after about 3 drinks worth of this mystery hooch.
Although I was grateful for the free booze, next time I’ll exercise more caution and be sure to bring a long a flask of the good stuff, to avoid another next morning nightmare.
Word to the wise: No name booze = you’re gonna lose, no matter how cheap it is.

Really, this is the first time in three years…I can recall four months ago you worshiping the ceramic god.
Hahaha but as you recall I was fine and dandy the next day. Getting sick does not equal having a hangover
Yes, I’ve come to the conclusion, despite “happy hour specials” and “open bars”, I’d opt for a $5 decent cocktail over free well swill.
That’s why you have to find places that have good wells or GOOD specials on GOOD booze
I guess maybe your right….
