beat the breathalyser

A new pill recently introduced overseas claims the dubious distinction of reducing your blood alcohol content (dramatically) without impacting your sense of intoxication.

Dangerous? In this ‘alchohol enthusiast’’s opinion: hell yes.

Drinking for me is somewhat akin to a liquified vacation.

It’s an inexpensive way to take the edge off another boring work day, settle into the night and enhance the experience of going out.

For me, a conscious decision to switch to public transportation (my car is currently in storage awaiting sale as soon as the frigid temperatures ease up a bit) was a wise move indeed. After all, no good can come of getting behind the wheel in a less than sober state.

One thing I’ve always hated about driving in fact was the ‘implied sobriety’ of it.

Most people however, don’t have, or choose not to embrace, this wonderful chauffeured existance.

For them, news of a new ‘wonder drug’ that could let them drink to excess whilst still having the ability to pass a roadside sobriety test could prove very alluring.

“Pepp” is purportedly an enzyme with no side-effects.

Thankfully, according to a reporter for Singapore’s Electric New Paper, it may prove too good to be true after all.

It was an apparent 75 per cent reduction of the alcohol coursing through my veins.

But something didn’t feel right.
