bar shopping vs. bar hopping

Leave it to the wonderful tipplers over at OnMilwaukee.com to deem February “Bar Month”.

On of the first articles offered suggestions for stocking your home bar.

With a few minor exceptions (dissing Stolicnaya, and suggesting Jack Daniel’s) it includes some great information.

People forget often the accoutrements,” Laev said. “You’ve got to have a (cocktail) shaker and a strainer. You need a corkscrew. And, you see people forget things like tonic water or sweet and sour mix or Bloody Mary mix. You want to have everything ready to go so you don’t have to run back to the store when guests are arriving or when the party has already started.”

I’ve had a similar issue with ice in the past.  If you’re throwing a shindig, be sure you’ve got at least a 6 lbs bag on hand in addition to whatever your ice trays hold.  Otherwise you may end up sending someone running out to Wal Greens in near blizzard conditions.

Thanks Bryan, you valient efforts were appreciated, hypothermia be damned.

$125 for a home bar from scratch? Hell yeah! How is that not worth it?

Totally.. With a minor ‘extra’ expense of the emergency Monkey Bar supplies, natch.
