Ask UM: Men’s Valet

UM,
As any gentleman has there’s a number of things I carry with me every. Cell phone, keys, wallet, all these things are essential to life, not quite in an oxygen way, but in a shoes kinda of way.
The issue is what to do with those things at the end of the day? For a long time there was a place for each, a keyring for my keys, cell phone on the desk, wallet on my dresser. This proved too complicated, and so I’ve started looking for a decent mens valet to put on my night stand. At the recommendation of a friend I’ve been using a nice, but still somewhat lacking, cigar box right now.
So the question I pose is this: What would the esteemed gentlemen of UM recommend for organizing such items that are required of the modern gentleman?
Regards
–
Scott
Hi Scott,
I couldn’t agree more! With all these cufflinks, wallets and phone numbers scribbled on matchbooks, a gentleman is in need of organization. You’re right on track with the term valet. For those not in the know, a men’s valet, or dresser valet, is pretty much a jewelry box for men. While you can buy several expensive designer valets, I recommend taking a look at the container store. Anytime I want to organize something, that’s where I usually head.
Take a look at the 3-tier jewelry box, stacking modular trays, or closet valet organizers. I have an elfa decor closet system, so I would get this.
