Actigraph Actitrainer Review
September 6, 2007 by Greg

We’ve been sitting on the Actigraph Actitrainer review for a while now, because, well, I’m a little lazy. This device just so happens to be, for the un-lazy. This biofeedback powerhouse is a combination heart rate monitor, pedometer, and sleep tracker. Other metrics tracked include step counts, pace, and calories burned. If you live an active lifestyle, this thing will track it.
When I first got the product I was impressed the overall presentation. The device looks like a jumbo flash drive with an lcd readout. When you want to charge it, or get your data off it, simply remove the cap and plug right into your computer.
They teamed up with Polar, leader in the field, to provide the heart monitoring. Unpacking this device, I quickly put on the heart rate monitor and gauged how much all of my normal activities engaged me. This lasted for at least two days till I decided to get down to our original interest in the product.
We gained interest in this product because of the built in sleep tracker. You wear the device on your wrist, get a full nights rest, and then upload the data into your computer. It provides a graph with how much your moving during your sleep. This gives you an overall picture of when your sleep cycles occur and how efficiently you are sleeping. There’s no built in alarm like the other products we’ve reviewed, but those products don’t upload to a graph either.
In the end, it’s a great activity monitor with the added benefit of a sleep analyzer. If you’re working out and getting fit, it’s a much better buy than a conventional heart rate monitor. If you’re just analyzing your sleep, it would be better try to a product designed specifically for that purpose.
Pick it up from Actitrainer.

I’m anxious to put this through its paces in the gym.. How difficult is the initial set up?
Much easier than it seems. 5 minutes tops.
